The Evocation Wizard is a fan favorite, especially sinceEvocation spells do the most damage. Because of this, I kept theSpell Sniperfeat, but I wanted hisIntelligence maxed outfor a +5 modifier. This means that with any Evocation spell, he can add a +5 to the damage roll. It doesn’t sound like much, but it can come in handy during those tough fights. I also added a bit to his Dexterity, since I wanthis AC increased.
Best Feats for Gale
When looking at the Feats you should give your Wizard companion, go for ones like Spell Sniper, War Caster, or Moderately Armored. Here’s what each Feat can do:
As a Wizard, Gale should learn as many spells as he can, and can benefit from more chances to crit with Spell Sniper. War Caster is great for spells that require concentration, which are a lot of them. But Moderately Armored is also great if your Gale always dies first. This will keep his AC high enough to dodge more attacks.

Sometimes the spells that you choose depend on which subclass you’ve chosen. If you’re an Abjuration Wizard, you may favor spells that require concentration (especially with the War Caster feat).
