As production continues in Berlin on the highly-anticipatedCaptain America: Civil War, new photos from the set have emerged, giving us our first look at theBlack Pantherin action, along with Captain America and The Winter Soldier. Unfortunately, these photos don’t featureChadwick Boseman,Chris EvansandSebastian Stan, but these images fromThe Daily Maildo tease some intriguing action. The scene was filmed atop a Berlin, Germany building known as ICC Messedamm, which is rumored to be doubling for United Nations headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
We know thatCaptain America: Civil Wartakes place in the aftermath ofAvengers: Age of Ultron, where another “international incident involving theAvengersresults in collateral damage.” This leads to “a system of accountability and a governing body” to be put in place, which will determine when to bring in Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Yesterday, a report surfaced that revealed this incident featuresCaptain Americaand Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) trying to track down the villainousCrossbones(Frank Grillo), who sets off a suicide bomb that levels a large building.
As forBlack Panther, producerKevin Feigerevealed thatChadwick Boseman’s T’challa is just starting to becomeBlack Panther, because his father T’chaka, the current ruler of Wakanda, is getting older. There have been rumors that T’chaka will either pass away or retire as the Wakandan ruler, which will lead into the stand aloneBlack Panthermovie. The producer added thatBlack Pantherwas brought on to offer a new perspective on the situation, aside from the assembled Avengers, and that both T’challa and T’chaka come to realize that they can’t just hide in Wakanda anymore.
The massive cast also includesRobert Downey Jr.,Scarlett Johansson,Sebastian Stan,Anthony Mackie,Paul Bettany,Jeremy Renner,Don Cheadle,Elizabeth Olsen,Paul Rudd,Emily VanCamp,Daniel Brühl,William HurtandMartin Freeman. Production is expected to run until mid-September, but it isn’t known if the sequel will shift to another location again, or if the remainder of their shoot will be in Berlin.
