CD Projekt Red reveal that objectification will be playing a role in the upcoming dystopian action-RPGCyberpunk 2077. In a recent interview atGamescom 2018, Quest Designer Partick Mills gave some tidbits about the theme.
Cyberpunk 2077 Set to Feature Objectification as a Focused Theme; NPCs Will React to Your Appearance
In an interview with DualShockers, Mills explains how the theme of objectification would tie in with the game:
This is a world where the system and the powers that be have objectified people and literally turned them into objects. Many times people turn themselves into objects in order sometimes to rebel or sometimes to fit in. Certainly, objectification would be a major theme.
Cyberpunk 2077 definitely does not skirt around controversial themes, they are pretty in your face especially with what we’ve seen in therecent gameplay revealed earlier this week. Mills shares that prostitution does exist in theNight City, what that entails as part of the game at this point is unknown.
However, Mills does confirm that characters within Night City will notice how you look:
The way you dress, the way you customize your character, we want the world to respond to these things.
NPCswill interact differently towards your character depending on what they wear and their looks. Previously this kind of interaction has been quite uncommon for games Mills explains.
We’re looking forward to seeing how interactive this feature will be, it will definitely add to the immersive feel of the world.
Cyberpunk 2077has not revealed a release date yet, but has been announced for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
