Daisy Ridley had to run out and cry after watchingThe Rise of Skywalkerfor the first time.Star Warsfans aren’t the only ones who are getting emotional after watching the latest and final installment in the sequel trilogy. The review embargo for the threequel has lifted and Ridley, along with Adam Driver have been praised for the emotional performances, though there have been quite a few negative reviews too. Regardless, Ridley stands by the movie.

The Rise of Skywalkercast and crew all saw the final cut of the movie during a private screening well before theStar Wars 9 world premiereearlier this week. For everybody, including director J.J. Abrams, it was the very first time they saw the movie as a whole and it was quite the experience, notes Daisy Ridley. She had this to say about seeing the movie for the first time.

“We all sort of sat around a bit stunned. And then I was trying to scurry off into the car to cry and [producer] Michelle Rejwan and [screenwriter] Chris Terrio were like, ‘No, go on.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want to cry in front of you! I just want to get in the car.'”

As for what made her cry,Daisy Ridleydid not go into much detail, but it seems likeThe Rise of Skywalkerclimax was what did it. Since theStar Wars 9 reviewsare up, we do know that there is a lot to process at the end of the movie, even for the actors and crew who were involved in the making of it.Star Warsfans will get a chance to experience it for themselves starting tomorrow during the Thursday preview screenings. Ridley went on to talk about the pacing of the movie. She explains.

“It’s, like, super snappy. So you’re sort of so tuned in that we really didn’t process it until the end. Then suddenly, you’re like, ‘Oh… oh my gosh,’ … it’s very overwhelming.”

Overwhelming has been a word that keeps popping up inThe Rise of Skywalker first reactions. It seems that there is a lot going on in the movie without a whole lot of time to do so, which has been what a lot of fans have been worrying about. J.J. Abrams was tasked with putting an end to the Skywalker Saga, which is not an easy thing to pull off, but it seems that he kept adding extra elements in that might not have been needed, though that’s not why Daisy Ridley was crying.

For Daisy Ridley, her time in theStar Warsfranchise appears to be done, at least for now. She has no plans to return, but that could all change in the near future, especially with Disney+’s success withThe Mandalorian. Regardless, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy says that these sequel trilogy characters will be able to return at some point down the line.
