Feel free to discuss and debate the build’s strengths and weaknesses but as always be constructive with your fellow Dark Souls players. This week’s build, “Dagger Guy”  comes from community member Achtpuntzes  and is anLuck and Vigorfocused build.

Dark Souls 3 Build of the Week:Dagger Guy

It’s the “AllStatus Effectbuild-up” build. InflictingFrostbite,Poison, andBleedat the same time.

My favorite build. Though it isn’t the strongest around, it’s still a viable one. But more importantly, it is unique. As I’ve never seen any other guy do this. This used to be aVigor/Luckbuild with the rest of its stats at base, or at least at the minimum requirements, for use with a pair of Poison and Bleed infusedBandit knives.

However, at some point I decided to mix things up just for fun with Frostbite damage build-up and the opportunity to add anAvelynnwithSplintering Bolts. And it has worked quite well, so i decided to stick with the new toon.

Stats & Vitals

*Also, at 99Hollowed.

**PvE is a beast too; playthrough was real easy includingboth DLCs.

Weapons, Armor, Rings & Spells

*When I’m in the mood for it, I add anAvelynnwithSplintering Bolts.

**Something ultralight to stay way under 30%equip. load.

***The lastringyou don’t really need, as “Dagger Guy” doesn’t take muchstamina. But if you’d like, you can be a little bit more aggressive, so feel free to swap to another ring of choice.

****You can also add a thirdHollow-infusedBandit Knife and swap Hidden Body to Frozen Weapon. But, Hidden Body is real fun on an aggressiveQuickstep"Dagger Guy", so I’d go for that one.

Be highly aggressive.  Inflict the status ailments as fast as possible so that your opponent will have3 effectsbuilding up at the same time. Good chance they will panic at some point. First, I would freeze them withSnap Freeze; and it’s quite easy to do with the fast casting Witch Tree Branchstave, and also castHidden Bodyin the frost cloud.

Then I two-hand myPoison-infusedBandit Knifeand go max aggro-style on the opponent to poison them. Now that the opponent has beenfrostbittenand poisoned, and since Bandit knives innately do somebleed, their Bleed bar should  almost be filled as well. Then, it’s a piece of cake to finish them off with the Bleed-infused Bandit Knife.

The simpleCaestusgives you near infiniteQuickstepuse as it fills upFPslowly. And since I have 16STRand 14DEX, I can also wield anAvelynand shoot awaySplintering Boltsif I’m in the mood for it. If they don’t have anyPurple Mossto heal the poison, I can just stop attacking when they’re close to death and let the poison kill them, just for the fun of it.

The strength of this build is in your own hands. Assuming that you can master the timing of Quickstep, you’re kinda invincible 1 vs 1 because you can quickstep through ANY attack from your opponent. Against slower weapons, you can quickstep by sight, and against fast weapons, you need to anticipate attacks for your quickstep. Also, don’t spam R1 so much onparryfishers and instead mix up your R1s with quickstep.

PlayStation 4

So, if you master Quickstep timing, you’ll be OK. But sometimes the lag is against you and then you need some luck, so adjust your timing a bit to still have a chance. Furthermore, notice thatCurved SwordsandCurved Greatswordshave smaller windows for your quickstep, therefore, be careful when facing them. Another thing to mention is that this build isn’t the best gank spank build, but is doable if mastered.

Lastly, a nice thing is that opponents can read this build wrong at start of a fight. They’ll assume I’m amagewhen I cast Snap Freeze and Hidden Body, and then rush into melee distance where I can slaughter them.
