Full-sized electric pickup trucks became a thing in 2021, with theRivian R1T, followed by theFord F-150 Lightninga year later. Today, there are six major contenders in this category, all offering a slightly different set of attributes.

We love big trucks, whether for work, lifestyle, or even a reflection of our personalities; they always sell like hot cakes. Electric pickups are just like regular trucks, with the electric drive offering some benefits and a few disadvantages.

Although EV range is improving all the time, there are only a handful of that can top the magical 400-mile range.

This list is in ascending order from lowest starting price to highest. These prices are ballpark, and can vary a bit depending on where in the US you live, the level of demand when you buy, and so on. I also give the shortest to longest range for each model, as well as a brief description, and a basic table of specs.

The Hummer is back, and it’s a technology monster.

1Ford F-150 Lightning

Starting price $52,000, max range 320 miles

TheFord F-150 Lightningtakes all the goodness that makes the regular F-150 so good, swaps the engine for a battery, two electric motors, and independent rear suspension. It can do everything the gas version can do, except when it comes to towing. The big frunk is handy, as is the ability to double as a generator on work sites or during power failures.

Everything else about the Lightning is pleasantly familiar, until you put your foot down. It comes with two battery options, offering different power and range options.

2Chevrolet Silverado

Starting price $58,000, max range 492 miles

The Chevrolet Silverado EV keeps the traditional truck shape like the Lightning, and offers really fantastic range as well. The model starts with two quite basic work trucks, one with standard range and the other with extended range. At the other end is the very expensive and luxurious RST Max range. If the Work Truck spec is not enough, there are a couple of very compelling options in the middle specs.

A great available feature is the midgate, where the rear of the cab can be opened, and the back seats folded down like an SUV to extend the length of the load-bed. The Silverado not only has a broad range of starting prices, it also offers different specs.

3Rivian R1T

Starting price $72,000, max range 420 miles

TheRivianR1T is a dedicated EV, so the rather eccentric design was built from the ground up. The shape is still the two-box, one-loadbed layout of a traditional truck. It is, however, an extremely capable truck, with a rugged truck utility in the back and a practical, luxurious five seats in front.

The R1T is available in four trims, all with AWD, with dual and tri-motors and extended batteries available. A quad-motor is in the works. The 2025 model has been extensively updated with better suspension, lighter EV components, and more safety features. This truck is equally at home in the city, on the highway, or out in the rough.

4Tesla Cybertruck

Starting price $72,000, max range 360 miles

Tesla as a brand and the Cybertruck as a model have beenin the news for all the wrong reasonslately, but the Cybertruck is a full-size electric truck with wild acceleration. Driving a Cybertruck will certainly get you noticed. I will strive to be a better person and take an unbiased look at the Cybertruck.

You know what the Cybertruck looks like, but to recap: it’s really big, very angular, flat surfaces, a chrome body, a power tonneau cover over the load bed, and a spaceship-like front end. Despite the negative vibes and well-documented problems, reviewers generally find it nice to drive, like a very large Model Y, perhaps. The Cyberbeast is certainly the quickest 0-60 pickup on the road, perhaps until the Rivian Quad motor gets a test. It also has an enormous 6x4-ft load bed.

5GMC Sierra

Starting price $92,000, max range 460 miles

The GMC Sierra EV is like a luxury version of the Silverado, offering only two high spec trims with prices to match. It also has the excellent midgate feature, like the Silverado.

It also features the same crab walk found in the Hummer, which turns the rear wheels in the same direction as the front to move the truck diagonally. Air suspension can be used to adjust the truck’s height, while its regenerative braking can allow almost total one-pedal driving.

6GMC Hummer EV

Starting price $99,000, max range

TheGMC Hummer EV is insanity on wheels. It is extremely powerful, extremely quick, very expensive, and, in some ways, somewhat offensive. The Hummer is not a working truck, but for a few bucks more, you can get the extreme off-road package to turn it into a serious off-road monster.

There is also a WTF (Watts To Freedom) package that allows it to intimidate Porsches in front of the club. If you are prepared to spend a lot of money for an ego trip, you can either build your own rocket or buy a Hummer. At just under 10,000 lbs in weight, you’ll get your money’s worth.
