Sometimes the “Danger” warning is there for show, and that’s somewhat the case for the Red Woods dungeon inClair Obscur: Expedition 33. This is one of the first dangerous dungeons you will encounter, and while it might scare you off, there’s not a lot to be scared of. All that’s really asked of you is emptying your coin purse and maybe taking down a boss with an easy-to-manipulate gimmick.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - The Chosen Path Guide
Who doesn’t like a little bit of a boss rush? In The Chosen Path, you will be greeted with five deadly bosses.
What is Red Woods?
Red Woods is an early game dungeon. Upon entering it, you will notice that there’s not a lot to the Red Woods. There is one little fountain that you’re able to throw Chroma in, and it will spit out a cryptic story that Lune quite enjoys.
This starts with5,000 Chroma, but quickly jumps to10,000, 25,000 and then 50,000, meaning you need to pay a hefty90,000 Chromajust to complete the side quest. That’s a hefty amount of clams early on in the game, so it’s likely you’ll have to come back and give the fountain everything in your wallet another time. The reward is definitely worth it, though, spitting out theRecoveryPicto, which allows you to recover 10% HP on each turn.

Should You Attack Benisseur?
While there is a reward for sparing a certain number of passive Nevrons in the world, our recommendation is to attack Benisseur. Unless you’re playing a pacifist to anyone who’s not an immediate threat, the benefits greatly outweigh the negatives. For starters, Benisseur is one of the easiest bosses in the game because of its gimmick.
While other Benisseurs have attacks they can summon from their watered-down head, this Benisseur only has one attack. It will summon various bubbles into existence, and each one will attack the party at a very stable pace. Because of this, it’s very easy to parry or dodge them. Better yet, you don’t actually have to kill Benisseur yourself.

While most bosses do require you to bring their HP down to zero through your own means, as you progress through the fight, you will quickly notice that there are fewer and fewer bubbles on each turn, and eventually Benisseur will begin to get tired. Once you’ve parried and dodged the last few bubbles he summons, your oversized friend here will simply die of exhaustion. That’s right, you don’t actually have to deal damage to him, but instead play on the defensive the entire time.
Because of this, you can face him very early on if you have the Chroma, so long as you have the means of getting the easy pattern down. And in the end, you will not only obtain all of your Chroma back from throwing it into his head, but it will be significantly more.
