Nightmare Kart, previously known as Bloodborne Kart, is now available for free on itch.io and Steam. This PSX-styled kart racer is an absolute joy to play and has loads of options to emulate the PSX look. While flawless in its presentation, there are a few technical issues players can run into. If you can’t get your controller to work with Nightmare Kart, here is how you can fix that.

Fixing Controller Issues in Nightmare Kart

Nightmare Kart has native support for Xbox controllers, but if you want to play with a PlayStation controller like the Dual Shock 4 or Dualsense, you need to enable Steam Input.

To make sure Steam Input is active for Nightmare Kart, follow the steps below.

That’s all you need to do. For Xbox controllers, you can disable Steam Input entirely.

Multiple users, including myself, couldn’t get the PlayStation controller to work properly with the game, leading to unresponsive controls but the incredible Lilith Walther updated the game to ensure Steam Input works as it should. Now, no matter what non-Xbox controller you plug in, you won’t have an issue.

Nightmare Kart has prompts for both Xbox and PlayStation controller types. you may switch these while you’re in a race in the button rebinding screen.

You can also rebind controls to your liking, which is always a plug. While I prefer playing this with a controller, Nightmare Kart players perfectly well on a keyboard as well.
