Newt is one of the strangest new additions to the Vampire Survivors cast. He’ll also take a while to obtain, so here’s how to unlock Newt in Vampire Survivors Operation Guns.

How to find 28 Grenades in Vampire Survivors to unlock Newt Plissken

To unlock Newt, you must collect 28 Grenades. For the longest time, I thought Grenades were one of the new Powerups that dropped from the silver drones that hover over the stage, but I was mistaken. However, they still do drop from the silver drones.

Grenades look like Mortar Bombs(see the image above) and function similarly to Rosaries in the regular levels.Grenades blow up every enemy on the screenbesides bosses and mini-bosses and are a godsend when the going gets tough.

Where to find Grenades in Vampire Survivors

Grenades only appear on theNeo Galugamap and are pretty rare. You canfind them randomly as you explorethe map. I usually find them from the silver drones that hover from left to right periodically. Shoot it down and you might find a Grenade. If you’re lucky, you mayfind Grenades in Light Sources. The Light Sources on Neo Galuga resemble regular lamps and are always worth breaking as they can contain powerups, which you need tounlock Stanley.

As Grenades are so uncommon,I recommend unlocking Newt through regular gameplay. If you break every lamp you see, you’ll eventually unlock him, but it can easily take more than ten games.

If you want to get Newt ASAP, you may pick up theClover Passive Item. I always find one directly to the east on Neo Galuga when starting out. The Clover improves your invisible Luck stat, which governs many variables in Vampire Survivors, including Light Sources. While it’s not guaranteed, you should see more powerups overall if you increase your Luck stat.

On that note, you can lean into Luck even further withcharacters like Divano and Exdash, who start with better Luck than the rest of the cast. As you explore Neo Galuga, ensure yougrab the Prism Lass sword. Getting to it is tricky, but it’s well worth the effort.
