If you want to play a Hero inMarvel Rivalswho can provide excellent support while being able to squeeze into tiny spaces, then Rocket Raccoon is the one for you.

As a Strategist and everybody’s favorite trash panda, Rocket is primarily a support role, as his main way of helping the team is healing through his ricocheting balls and bringing teammates back lickety-split.

Marvel Rivals: 10 Best Characters For Beginners

In Marvel Rivals, characters like Jeff the Land Shark and The Punisher are better for newer players looking to build their skill.

Rocket Raccoon Abilities

Rocket’s main draw is that he has a techie vibe to his kit as he uses a lot of deployable gadgets. Real useful, that one.

Bombard Mode is his only form of damage, and his damage output is pretty abysmal. Not to worry, though–the rest of his abilities make up for his low damage output by giving him a versatile support kit.

Here’s a quick rundown of his abilities:

Description

Bombard Mode

Basic attack. Shoot rapid-fire energy projectiles that deal 16 damage per round. Can crit. Has an effective range of 10m before damage fall-off, up to a 40% decrease (4 damage) at 20m.

Repair Mode

Shoot bouncing healing spheres that generate a small healing field that regenerates 60 health per second for allies and 30 for yourself. Balls disappear after healing for 140 (allies) or 70 (self) health or bounce 6 times before disappearing.

Deploy a Cosmic Yarn Amplifier that grants allies a 40% damage boost within its 20m radius. The machine has 800 health before it is destroyed.

Jetpack Dash

Dash forward with your jetpack. 2 charges that take 6 seconds to recharge each.

Deploy a Battle Rebirth Beacon. This machine generates an item every 3 seconds, including Armor Packs (25 bonus health) and Rocket Boots. The beacon can also revive any fallen allies within a 50m radius, consuming the machine and putting it on a 45-second cooldown. However, you can also prematurely reclaim the machine, putting it on a 5-second cooldown instead.

Wild Crawl

Hold (JUMP BUTTON) to run on a wall.

Flying Ace

Hold (JUMP BUTTON) to fall slowly in the air.

Rocket Raccoon Offensive Strategies

As Rocket, being aggressive means zipping around the battlefield, spamming your healing spheres, and laying down suppressive fire for your teammates while they do the dirty work.

Rocket Raccoon Defensive Strategies

To stay alive as Rocket Raccoon, you have to be as slippery as an eel. Your best strength is your tiny size and mobility. Think like a raccoon; find nooks and crannies and vantage points to escape to whenever you’re in a sticky situation.

Rocket Raccoon Team-Up Abilities

Rocket Raccoon has two Team-Up abilities: Old Friends and Ammo Invention.

In general, Ammo Invention is the best Team-Up between the two. Giving the Punisher and Winter Soldier infinite ammo for 12 seconds can be a major game-changer, and that’s won me plenty of gunfights.

But if you’re saddled up with a Groot, then the damage reduction ain’t so bad, either. Is the Team-Up worth it, though? That depends on whether your Groot knows how to position himself well enough, and knows how to stay alive.

Old Friends

Jeff the Land Shark and Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot’s shoulders, receiving a Damage Reduction (35%).

Ammo Invention

Rocket Raccoon

Rocket Raccoon throws an Ammo Overload device in the target direction. Upon entering the device’s range (10m), the Punisher and Winter Soldier receive Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing. Lasts 12 seconds and has a 45-second cooldown.

Rocket Raccoon Counters & How To Deal With Them

In a world of heavy hitters, Rocket can easily get himself in a tight spot if he’s not careful. Because he’s practically defenseless in the close-range department, any melee Hero with high mobility can make short work of him.

The only way to survive an attack from a melee Hero is to escape or lure them to your teammates.Don’t try to engage in a one-on-one; you can’t win.I’ve run out of fingers trying to count how many times an Iron Fist has chased me down and pummeled me to paste.

Watch out for Jeff’s ultimate, too, because his hitbox is weirdly built to where it can even catch you in midair or when it looks like you’ve escaped right outside his ultimate radius. Not sure if that’s intentional or not.

Best Team Comps With Rocket Raccoon

Because of the weak damage output of Bombard Mode and the slow healing of Repair Mode, he’s not meant to be the main healer of the team.

My best recommendation is to have a second Strategist as the main healer, preferably a Luna or Jeff, since their healing abilities can top off health really quick. Cloak and Dagger might even be a good pick, but I haven’t encountered enough to know for sure.

As for Vanguards, Doctor Strange and Venom fulfill different roles but work really well with Rocket. Strange can put up a shield and stay with Rocket on the backlines, while Venom can dive into the enemy team and act as a distraction. Groot is a hard “maybe”.

It goes without saying, but the Punisher and Winter Soldier are the best Duelist picks for Rocket. They’re already strong on their own but can be even more so with Rocket’s Team-Up ability.
