Marvel Rivals: How To Play Black Panther

Magik Abilities

Magik revels in being up close and personal, disrupting enemies with her ability to launch enemies in the air and attacking multiple foes with each strike of her enormous blade.

Her Stepping Discs arethe bread and butter of her kit, allowing her to reposition herselfanduse different combos depending on the situation. While Umbral Incursion is a dash that can be a great tool to close the distance, she can also use it as a means of escape.

Once Magik transforms into Darkchild, her abilities are enhanced for 12 seconds, as most of her attacks deal double damage, making her a much deadlier adversary to her foes.

Description

Basic Attack. Swing the Soulsword for 65 damage in a 6.5m range.

DARKCHILD:Each swing hits 3 times, each tick dealing 35 damage (105 total) in a 10m range.

Stepping Discs

Teleport a short distance, becoming invincible while teleporting. After exiting the stepping disc, Magik has 3 seconds to use one of two combo abilities. 6-second cooldown with 2 charges.

Umbral Incursion

Dash forward 16m and launch up enemies. Slash deals 85 damage. 8-second cooldown.

DARKCHILD:Dash forward 20m and launch up enemies. Slash deals 115 damage. 6-second cooldown.

Magik Slash

(SECONDARY ATTACK KEY) Charge a projectile that travels in a straight trajectory. 45-90 damage. 6-second cooldown.

DARKCHILD:Projectile does 90-180 damage. 3-second cooldown.

Eldritch Whirl

After exiting a stepping disc, press (PRIMARY ATTACK KEY) to spin with the Soulsword, dealing 45 damage in a circle around you. Can cleave through multiple enemies.

DARKCHILD:Deal 3 ticks of 35 damage (105 total) in a circle around you.

Demon’s Rage

After exiting a stepping disc, press (SECONDARY ATTACK KEY) to summon a demonic imp that attacks enemies, dealing 20 damage per hit.

DARKCHILD:Imp now deals 25 damage per hit.

Limbo’s Might

Passive. Convert 30% of the damage inflicted into Bonus Health with a maximum of 150 (400 health total)

Magik Offensive Strategies

As Magik, your job is to flank the enemy and isolate a priority target to slice and dice them into chunks. Magik is also a tough brawler, capable of dealing as much damage as she can take.

There are many different combos to experiment with as Magik. The above combos are done with the perfect settings of the training range, so it does not fully reflect the damage you would do amidst the chaos of battle.

Magik Defensive Strategies

Magik’s biggest weaknesses are crowd control and ranged enemies with good aim. Because her kit doesn’t give her a lot of aerial mobility,Magik can easily get caught and eliminated when stunned or immobilized.

Magik Combos

Because Magik’s playstyle feels very reminiscent of traditional hack-and-slash games, there are many different combos for you to use in your onslaught against your enemies.

Magik’s basic sword swing attack is incredibly slow, so you’ll need to cancel the slow windup animation with a different attack to maximize your damage potential.

For PC players, the default keybind for melee strike is “V”. If this keybind is too restrictive, you can go to your combat settings and change the pommel strike attack to a different button. I have it as MB4 so that I can easily press the side of my mouse to finish a combo. Try experimenting with different keybinds and see what suits you.

Magik Team-Up Abilities

This is a great Team-Up to have since it givesBlack Pantherand Psylocke extra survivability while giving Magik more damage.

Depending on the team comp you want, having another close-ranged Duelist might take up a much-needed slot you could have for a long-ranged Duelist, but that’s entirely up to you and your team’s preferences.

When Magik is on the field, Black Panther and Psylocke can tap into Limbo to rewind seconds back to a previous position; after passing through Limbo, Black Panther and Psylocke will gain Bonus Health based on missing health.Magik also receives a 15% damage boost.

Magik Counters And How To Deal With Them

Magik can be countered by any Hero with decent crowd-control abilities, or she can be outmaneuvered by Heroes with higher mobility. Depending on the situation, you should eitheravoid or eliminate these enemies at all costs.

As Magik,your best bet is to verify the Duelists and Strategists are isolated before you can unleash your combos.Work with your team by pinging the enemy you want taken out, and gank them in a well-coordinated attack.

Winter Soldier and Hawkeye are your worst enemies, as one can hook you in, and the other can use his Ultimate to shoot your after-images. Even in a one-on-one, you might have a hard time, so make sure to stay close to your team.

Magik Team Composition

Because of her Team-Up ability,Magik works best with Psylocke and/or Black Panther, which grants her extra damage and sustain.Three close-range assassins working in tandem could potentially take out half an enemy team if you’re well coordinated.

If you’re in a solo queue, a ranged Duelist like Hawkeye or Punisher might be able to cover you while you dive. Since having three Duelists is still a valid team comp, taking an extra Duelist slot with Black Panther or Psylocke for the Team-Up wouldn’t hurt, either.

As for Vanguards, a good Venom or Captain America could benefit Magik’s assault, while a long-ranged Strategist like Jeff or Luna Snow might be able to keep her alive from afar.
