Capcom’sMega Man X2action-platformer is split into 10 stages, the first being a tutorial or introduction stage, 8 main stages and then the final stage. Any of the 8 main stages can be done in any order you choose. Below is a guide for the Desert Base stage and it’s boss, Overdrive Ostrich. I will explain how to defeat each enemy and boss in this guide.
Mega Man X2: Desert Base Stage & Overdrive Ostrich Guide
In this stage you will face a few enemies before facing the boss called Overdrive Ostrich. The enemies you will face include Crash Roader, Aclanda and Road Riders. I will explain each strategy in taking the different enemies out in this step-by-step guide.
Desert Base
Head inside the base avoiding or destroying theCrash RoaderandAclandaas they block your way. There will be a section with discolored rocks that can be destroy if players have Spin Wheel. It will take you to the X Hunter boss room that are hidden throughout the level. See the X Hunter Guide for more information about them. They must be defeated to get back Zero’s parts which have been taken
Take the ladder downwards, take out the Crash Roaders until you pick up your Motorbike. Use the bike to fire shots to damageRoad Ridersand to lower the bridge. Use the dash feature while on the incline to jump over pits. After a short ride, players will enter the Desert Base. Use the dash while going up the first incline to get on the high platform which houses the Heart Tank. Hit the left button once you reach the spikes to survive the end of the path.
Head towards the lower path and take out the Aclandas. There will be more blocks that can only be broken with Spin Wheel, this will lead players to the Leg Armor Upgrade. Eliminate the last Aclanda and step inside the boss gate. Jump onto the center of the rocket and prepare for the boss fight.
Boss: Overdrive Ostrich
Overdrive Ostrich can deal large amounts of damage but he can be easily dealt with. The fight will start with him running at you. Use the terrain to get to higher ground and dash jump over him and pelt him with a charge shot or dash shot (dashing while firing a normal shot deals 2 bars instead of 1). If players move away from Overdrive Ostrich so he is off screen, he will run in the background then jump on players. Use this tactic to encourage him to jump on you while you dash away and fire a charge shot.
He has three different moves and may do either:
Simply goad him into running in the background or running at you to fire attacks off. It shouldn’t take too long to defeat him. Once defeated, players will obtain Sonic Slicers which is Wire Sponge’s weakness. The next stage you should take on is the Weather Control Stage with the bossWire Sponge.
