Capcom’sMega Man X2action-platformer is split into 10 stages, the first being a tutorial or introduction stage, 8 main stages and then the final stage. Any of the 8 main stages can be done in any order you choose. Below is a guide for the Dinosaur Tank stage and it’s boss, Wheel Gator. I will explain how to defeat each enemy and boss in this guide.
Mega Man X2: Dinosaur Tank Stage & Wheel Gator
In this stage players will go up against the boss Wheel Gator, but before reaching the final part of this stage they will be faced with a few enemies. The enemies in this stage that you will face include Tubamail-S, Tiranos and Disk Boi 08. Each enemy require different tactics in order to defeat, I will explain how to in this step-by-step guide.
Dinosaur Tank Stage
Head right and you will see the Tubamail generator spitting outTubamail-S. Jump over them and the generator to bypass them. Take out theTiranos, descend the ladders to reach an open area. Up above is where the arm upgrade is located. Continue on into the tank, destroying the rolling enemies and heading down the ladders. Jump onto the wall and dash jump to the other side and use Strike Chain to reach the other wall. Climb up the wall to find thearm upgrade.
Descend down the hole, hop on the moving platforms and take out the twoDisk Boi 08. Collect the large HP item to stock up on health. Descend down the hole and bypass or destroy the Tiranos blocking your way. Climb inside the Rabbit Mech Armor to destroy the wall blocking progress. Drop down, head right punching all the enemies that stand in your way. Climb up the ladder, dispatch the Tiranos, and take the elevator up. Exit right once the elevator is at the top to avoid spikes which can kill you.
Take the moving platform across while shooting your Mega Buster to eliminate the Disk Boi 08 and the Tubamail-S. Take the elevator up and exit to the left. Ascend up and follow the path bypassing several Tubamail generators, Tubamail-S, and Tiranos. Players will see a blue entryway that will lead to the boss gate once they past two Tubamail generators on a descending ledge.
Boss: Wheel Gator
Wheel Gatoris more tiresome than difficult as the area is covered by oil and he also likes to keep you waiting. Most of the time he will start the match by diving in the oil. Climb up the nearest wall and stay there until you see a metal wheel. The wheel will travel around the area so wait for it to start climbing the wall and hop off of it. Quickly climb the wall again, if you spend too much time in the oil the Wheel Gator will breach the area and will take a bite out of you causing 3 damage.
If you instead decide to get back on the wall, he will follow which means you must dash-jump off the wall and shoot Wheel Gator. Use his weakness strike chain or with the arm upgrade shoot him with a fully charged Mega Buster. I personally like the Mega Buster method so he will attack you more often and not dive back in the oil.
Wheel Gator may charge up the two wheels on his shoulders and fire them towards you. They will climb the wall then fall back down. Take advantage of the time in between evading the wheels to shoot Wheel Gator.
He will periodically wind himself like a drill and then charge at players. He can be shot during this attack but ensure you have enough time to jump on a wall then dash-jump over him. Upon defeat Wheel Gator will give you the Spin Wheel, which is the weakness againstBubble Craband I suggest taking on this boss next.
