Michael Douglaswas one of the surprising additions to the MCU back whenAnt-Manwas first released in 2015. Now, the arrival ofAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniamarks the Oscar-winning actor’s fourth appearance in the Marvel franchise, and according to the star, he is more than willing to return for a fifth time on one simple condition. While being interviewed byThe Hollywood Reporter, Douglas was asked about another possible MCU return and had a very simple and short answer. He said:
“As long as I can die.”
Douglas appeared at a press conference forAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaearlier in the week, and discussing his time in the MCU, the actor noted that it has been “a pleasure” to be part of a more family-orientated franchise for a change. He commented:
“I think the Ant-Man pictures refer to family a lot and it brings a vulnerability to these super-powered characters that we see in a lot of Marvel films. And the sense of humour – it’s really a pleasure. I think it’s the sort of fun element about it, certainly it’s the danger [too]. It seems to relate to all different ages. [For] someone like myself, whose mostly referenced with R-rated movies, this has been a pleasure to have younger kids coming up and enjoying it and seeing what’s going on, so kudos to everyone.”

The MCU is heading directly into the heart of the Multiverse Saga withAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, bringing Kang the Conqueror, the new Big Bad of the franchise, into the game much earlier than Thanos appeared in any meaningful form in the Infinity Saga. While there are still many more movies to come before the cataclysmic finale of the Multiverse Saga hits cinemas in 2026, there are many reasons whyAnt-Manis going to be one of the most important MCU installments of the last few years.
Jonathan Majors has already made an appearance as one variant of his multiverse-spanning villain. He previously teased exactly how the character is going to be the “biggest, baddest” antagonist the MCU has seen so far.
“Well, they come down to the Quantum Realm, the Quantum Realm is my current domain. It’s where I am. And as the title says, I’ve conquered it. So, he’s a man isolated. Just there. Working it out. Here’s the thing with villains, right? Or, with any character. But, particularly with villains. Yes, there is the manifestation of power. But, the internal power is really the drive. You know? And I think with Kang, something I found so interesting was that his pain and suffering and discomfort and frustration with society and the world is so great in him that [those qualities] have allowed him to make himself into the supervillain that you see. It is that internal friction that gives him that power. Now, how it manifests? Stay tuned! Yeah, his heartache is great and so massive that he does live up to that title of being the biggest, baddest MCU villain that we’ve had.”
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaarrives in theaters on Feb. 17.
