Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build for Beginners- In this Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build guide, I’m going to be showing you my beginnerBowbuild that you can set up early on, and get you through the beginning chapter of the game. The bow is a ranged weapon that is very stamina dependent, and with the new added trick shot gauge system in the game, resource management has never been more important for bow users. This build is aimed towards making the resource management easier and will let you keep the pressure up for longer periods of time.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build for Beginners

All Monster Hunter Wilds Builds focus around their equipment, once you’ve selected a Weapon, as these impact your general approach, as well as provide you with valuable Skills that can further customize your style of play. Let’s begin with Weapons first, since that’s the most important.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build - BeginnerBows

This Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build will be using two bows as both the primary and secondary weapons in order to gain access to more coatings earlier in the game and be more versatile when dealing with monsters.

Hope Bow II

The primary weapon or the first bow that you will be using as you play through the game is the starting bow from the Expedition Tree, theHope Bow. More specifically, we will upgrade into theHope Bow IIthe as soon as possible.

This will give us theBallisticsweapon skill, which extends the effective range of your bow, allowing you to get more distance between you and monsters.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build - Coatings edit

With the Hope Bow, I recommend using the Power and Poison coatings. The power coating is great at creating wounds on the monster, and the poison coating can be used to apply poison in instances where the monster is about to run away, so you can apply poison to whittle its health down as it moves.

Quematric Arco I

For the second bow in this Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build, we will be using the Quematrice tree, theQuematric Arco I. The Quematrice Bow gives us early game fire elemental damage, which is particularly useful since none of the early game monsters are resistant to fire. Additionally, it gives us the focus weapon skill, which increases the rate at which you gain your trick shot arrow gauge, improving your resource management when using the bow.

TheFocusskill will increase the rate by 5% during the first level and it will also reduce your charge times by 5%, making you able to fire more shots overall.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build - Coatings close range exhaust

For Coatings, the Quematrice Arco I has the Close-Range and Exhaust Coatings. These coatings work well together as you can first exhaust the monster using the exhaust coating, then close the distance once its immobile and use the close-range coatings for the increased damage output with maximum efficiency.

Wild Power Bow I

After progressing in the story for a little bit, you will be able to craft the Bow from the Congala tree, theWild Power Bow I. At that point, we will use the Wild Power Bow I as our primary weapon and the Quematric Acro I as our secondary weapon.

The Wild Power Bow I gives theSpecial Ammo Boostskill, which increases the amount of shots we can fire per coating application. The one level we get from the bow will increase the coatings shot from the default six shots to ten shots, making application of status effects much easier. It will also increase your combo finisher shot damage, increasing your overall damage output.

With the Wild Power I Bow, you’ll be able to use four different types of coatings: Power, poison, paralysis and blast coatings. The blast coating is very good at breaking targeted parts of the monster making it easier for you to get the parts you want, and the rest can be used when you think is best.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build -Armor

Moving onto armor, the aim of this Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build is to make resource management for using the bow easier, so we will be making use of a combination of theBone SetandQuematrice Set. For the 3 pieces of Bone armor set, we will be using theBone Helm,Bone MailandBone Coilto get theMarathon Runnerskill.

The Marathon Runner skill reduces the stamina consumption of your shots and your dodges and will help in keeping your down time to a minimum during the hunts.

For the vambraces and the greaves, we can initially set this up with 2 pieces from the Quematrice Set, theQuematrice BracesandQuematrice Greaves, which will give theFlinch Freeskill. The flinch free skill is really helpful for preventing knockups and trips, especially if you are playing with a party.

However, you may easily swap these two pieces out for something else as this is not a core part of the build. For example, if you like using the adamant seeds and demon drugs for defense and attack boosts in your hunts, you can use the pieces from theChatacabra Setwith theItem Prolongerskill to prolong the buff duration. Or if you just want to increase the passive recovery of your health, you can use the pieces from theLaLa Barina Setwith theRecovery Upskill. You can also simply switch to the 2 pieces from theBalahara Setfor theEvade Extenderskill to keep your distances with your evades.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build -Talismans

This Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build doesn’t require a talisman, so as such, the talisman slot remains open as a versatile option to swap for what you need in a particular hunt. You can use theGlutton’s Charm Ias a general quality of life improvement to this build to increase your item consumption rate, or go for theImpact Charm Ito max out theFlinch Freeskill in conjunction with two pieces of the Quematice armor set.

If you are struggling with elemental attacks from the apex predators, you may use theWater Charm Iand theThunder Charm Iduring your hunts.

In terms of drawbacks, this Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build mainly focuses on improving the resource management when using your bow. Thus, your damage might not be the best compared to other weapons like theGreat Swordor theLong Sword. And using two bows has the trade off of not having access to a weapon that can easily cut off a tail or mouth the monster.

Progression Route

Once you progress further into the game, there are a few ways you can take this build. At the end of chapter one, you can easily upgrade into theUth Khviluk Ibow from the Uth Duna tree, which is very strong at this point.

It has the downside of having only one type of coating, the pierce coating, but this can be easily remedied by using theWild Power I Bowif you are looking for either the poison or paralysis status effect.

Another option is to stick to the Quematrice tree and upgrade it to theQuematrice Acro IIbow, which will give youFocusskill level 2, making resource management even more forgiving.

Final Thoughts

This Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build is aimed towards making resource management of your bow easier and as such, we can take full advantage of this fact by delivering a relentless rain of arrows using the tracer shot. The tracer shot is a very powerful addition to the bow and this build will help in maximizing the up time of the tracer arrows.

Even though the dragon piercer can deliver a devastating strike to the monster as the highest damage dealing shot in the Bow’s arsenal, simply spamming quick shot, power shot combos after landing a tracer arrow will keep your damage output consistent and will also refill your trick arrow gauge quickly. This way you can rotate between your coated shots and powerful dragon piercers and quickly take down any monsters during your hunts.

When using the bow, sometimes it can feel like you’re not creating enough wounds on the monster due to the nature of the weapon in that you dont hit one spot repeatedly, you attack the monster across its whole body, which results in less loot per hunt. You can counteract this by frequently using power coatings, as this coating will make it easier for wounds to appear per hit on the monster’s body.

When you do want to destroy the wounds, remember to pair the attack with a tracer arrow and lingering arrows from a charged arc shot so that when you’re able to get off a fully charged hailstorm attack, you will inflict an insane number of damage.

Lastly, you can cut a tail off of a monster using the bow but you will have to land your dragon piercers(Y+B or Triangle + Circle) on the tail a couple of times before those tails will come off.

So, that wraps up the early Monster Hunter Wilds build for the bow, hope you guys found this helpful. If there’s a specific build you want to see, please leave it in the comments below.
