What’s New in the Siege Update?

New Game Mode: Siege

The main highlight of the update is the new Siege Mode, a three-player PvE experience that will test how long your squad of Space Marines can hold an Imperial Fortress on the planet Kadaku. Unlike the Operations missions with clear objectives, Siege throws your squad against endless waves of enemies in a true last-stand scenario.

Hordes of enemiesalternate every 5 waves, meaning that if your squad faced off against the Tyranids in waves 1-5, the next 5 waves would pit you and your two other teammates against the Tzeentch-worshippers, the Thousand Sons. As you play through the waves, you can gather Requisition Points which you’ll use as currency at Acquisition Terminals to purchase upgrades, reinforcements and other consumables that can be invaluable against the next waves of enemies. One of the things that caught my eye in this trailer is that it’s possible to call in a whole platoon of Cadian troopers as well as a Dreadnought even though it’s hefty at 1500 points. Gameplay-wise, though, if you’re going to ask me, I’d prefer to fight against the Tyranids and Chaos Marines in an alternate fashion with a few bosses in between, just to give the game a bit more shock and excitement.

Alongside the free Siege mode,Patch 8 also delivers two new cosmetic DLC packs for Season Pass holders. Here’s a list of cosmetics that you may get for the White Scars and Blood Angels Space Marine Chapters:

Blood Angels

Why You Should Jump In Now

If you’ve held off on getting Space Marine 2, this might be a good time to check it out. There’s already a lot of content available from previous updates and who wouldn’t want to play as an Astartes against hordes of xenos and traitor marines?

The game is alsoaccessible with cross-play,but might require patience for matchmaking since the number of the concurrent players on steam is dipping as of the moment. That said, I believe that the Siege Mode is a good step in the right direction and this update might be interesting enough to hook in new players and get older players invested once more.
