In the world ofOne Piece, the creator, Eiichiro Oda, likes to hide important secrets in small details, making fans excited with various theories. A good example is Roronoa Zoro, the strong swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Zoro’s Lost Eye

Zoro’s character design, especially his left eye, changed over time, leading fans to wonder about hidden secrets. Some think his covered eye might hold important information, creating anticipation for future revelations. After the timeskip, Zoro always keeps his left eye closed, making fans come up with theories about what might have happened to it.

And surprisingly, one theory says Zoro’s missing left eye may have a connection to Norse mythology, where a god sacrificed an eye for special vision. This idea makes sense because of Zoro’s observation haki.

When Did Zoro Lose His Left Eye?

After a big time jump inOne Piece, Zoro ended up on Kuraigana Island thanks to Bartholomew Kuma. He went there to train with Dracule Mihawk, the World’s Strongest Swordsman. Even though they’re rivals, Zoro wanted Mihawk’s help to get stronger and help Luffy become the Pirate King, especially after Ace died tragically.

Zoro put aside his pride and started intense training with Mihawk, improving his sword skills and learning about Haki. His task was to defeat the Humandrills on the island.

Zoro’s Haki

During this time, Zoro got injured in his left eye, and he kept it closed since then, making it a mystery. Interestingly, this is similar to Odin’s story, who gave up his eye to Mimir’s well for knowledge and prescient vision.

Odin Sacrificed One Eye For Wisdom And Power, Zoro Might Have Done The Same

Odin, in both Marvel and Norse mythology, is known for his wisdom and power. He constantly seeks knowledge and is willing to do anything to understand life’s mysteries. Once, he even hanged himself, wounded himself, and went without food and drink for nine days to discover runes.

On another occasion, Odin went to Mimir’s Well, where a knowledgeable being named Mimir lived. Mimir gained wisdom by drinking water from the well, which held cosmic knowledge. When Odin asked for a drink, Mimir agreed only if Odin gave up one of his eyes. After thinking a while, Odin sacrificed his eye, and Mimir then gave him a drink.

Similarly, inOne Piece, Zoro’s quest to become the most powerful swordsman is endless. There are hints that Zoro may have sacrificed his left eye for swordsmanship or maybe observation haki, as seen by a scar on his eye after a two-year timeskip.

However, it is not proven that he sacrificed his eye to become the strongest. Since the timeskip, Zoro keeps his left eye closed, leading fans to theorize about his missing eye. Fans have been speculating about the significance of this injury in the future of the story.
