Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Announces New Roguelike Mode in its Upcoming DLC
Owlcat Games has been quite busy these past few days. With their recent announcement ofWarhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, you’d think that the company would have slowed down with their updates onPathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Oh, how wrong we all are.
The team silently dropped the news on their Steam Page that something is brewing in the far reaches of the perilous seas. Wrath of the Righteous’ third paidDLCwas announced, The Treasure of the Midnight Isles.

Untold Riches
Releasing on September 29th is the third DLC for the classic RPG. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous’ Treasure of the Midnight Isles will introduce a new roguelike mode that will be unique to the new locations.
It appears that a mysterious ship has been said to be the only vessel that docks at a specific port. This misshapen, vile excuse for a boat ferries greedy adventurers into a forgotten and derelict island in the middle of the ocean.

Because of the promise of coin and glory, a steady supply of daredevils seeks out the ship and the island. But what they do not know is of the horrors that lurk on its murky shores. Adventurers will be lucky to return with a few coins and cuts and bruises. Most are not so fortunate, as even more who venture forth never return.
You’ve Got Some Rogue in My RPG!
Since the infamous ship keeps on attracting unlucky souls, there will never be a shortage of people to throw at the grinder. This mechanic plays well both mechanically and narratively to fit the roguelike genre. Every time a party you control perishes and shakes off their mortal coil, the player can simply find new willing souls to take their place.
As there will be an untold number of choices, players will be able to fully experiment with wild and wacky skills and character combinations. Though Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous’ DLC did not name specifics, we can speculate that all 25 of thebasic classesand 13 prestige classes can potentially be made available in this mode.

Players will have a perfect opportunity to play intoclassesand archetypes that they normally wouldn’t want to invest hundreds of hours in and unfortunately find out that that specific playstyle isn’t for them. Ever wanted to try something more exotic like theNine Tailed Heir, theProclaimer, orArcane Rider? This might be the DLC for you!
Variety is the spice of life. It will be even spicier as this Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous DLC will also allow the usage of its powerfulMythic Paths. Hopefully, we don’t have to unlock the relevant prerequisites in the main game, like the complexSwarm-That-Walkspath.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and the Midnight Isles
Aside from death and riches, not much is known about the Midnight Isles. The roguelike mode’s story will revolve mostly around the new island. We’ll find out why it exists, what treasure lies within, as well as the history of the mysterious ship.
Of course, this Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous DLC will add tons of new weapons, armor, potions, scrolls, and more for players to toy around with. There will also be new, powerful enemies to try these armaments on.
