Resident Evilwill have a new game in its saga. The news was revealed duringCapcom Next: Summer 2024, an event where they showcased games likeKunitsu-Gami: Path of the GoddessandDead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Details about the latter were scarce, except that its director will be Koshi Nakanishi, the Japanese creator behindResident Evil 7: Biohazard.
Resident Evil Will Have a New Game
Last night,Capcom Next: Summer 2024aired, an event where they showcased games likeKunitsu-Gami: Path of the GoddessandDead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which now has a release date. The event concluded with an unexpected announcement fromCapcom, confirming they are developing a new Resident Evil game, directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director ofResident Evil 7(2017).
First official confirmation of the newgame"We are making a new Resident Evil," Nakanishi said at the end of theCapcom Next: Summer 2024event. “It was really difficult to decide what to do afterResident Evil 7. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels important. I can’t share any details yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.”

Capcomdid not reveal anything more, nor did they confirm it asResident Evil 9, although it is evident that it will be the ninth installment of the saga. In recent years, they have alternated the release of main series entries, likeResident Evil 8: Village (2021), with spectacular remakes, such asResident Evil 4 Remake (2023).
Koshi Nakanishi, besides directingResident Evil 7, worked onResident Evil 5 (2009),Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (2011), andResident Evil: Revelations (2012).

What We Know So Far
In recent months, numerous leaks and rumors have surfaced about the ninth installment of the Capcom saga, which have almost always turned out to be true.
We know it would be titledResident Evil 9: The Descendants, set on an island in Southeast Asia inspired by Singapore. It will be open-world and is expected to release in late 2025 or early 2026.
Now that it is officially confirmed, we can only wait for its official presentation. However, based on the way it was announced, it seems clear that, as indicated by recent rumors, we will have to wait at least until the second half of 2025 to enjoy it.
