S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Introduces Massive New Features
After years of anticipation,S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2finally launched last November onXbox Series X/S, PC, and Game Pass—though admittedly in less-than-ideal conditions.
While the mere release of the game amid the war in Ukraine was a remarkable achievement forGSC Game World, it was clear the title still needed substantial work to reach its full potential.
To that end, the studio mapped out a detailed roadmap, now entering a major milestone with Patch 1.5—and it brings some major additions.
What’s New in STALKER 2 Update 1.5
DubbedGuns and Looting, version 1.5 is one of the game’s most ambitious updates to date. It not only brings new weapons and improvements but also introduces long-awaited mod support via theZone Kit.
A-Life 2.0, the dynamic life simulation system, is now closer than ever to its intended vision. NPCs now live their lives beyond the player’s field of view—exploring, resting, trading, or fighting among themselves to create a more believable and organic world.
One major criticism has also been addressed: enemies no longer respawn instantly or in visible areas, keeping the world populated without breaking immersion.
Other visual and gameplay upgrades include improved draw distance and more detailed animations and weapon models at long range—eliminating the annoying “pop-in” effect.
New Weapons
Mutant Parts and Trade System
For the first time inHeart of Chornobyl, players can collect mutant parts—like eyes, fangs, or tentacles—after defeating them.
These valuable items can be exchanged with NPCs for coupons. But first, players must visitMalachite, a new key character who teaches how to preserve these remains for trading.
