Coming out of a Paradox Interactive showcase, the publisher teased a new sim game calledLife By You. The publisher and developer Paradox Tectonic showed off some short footage of the game, which is set to get a full reveal on March 20. One of the former creators behindThe Simsfranchise, Rod Humble, is headingLife By You, meaning it could be a very possible competitor.

It’s a very short teaser, but goes over a lot of expected features. You see a town filled with cars and houses. Another clip shows everyday life inside of a home, and also a mode where you can build houses. While there’s not much to go off of, for now it looks like it could compete againstThe Sims, which is one of the largest life-sim franchises available.

The Sims Creator Is Heading Its Competitor Life By You House Building

The Simsis collecting competitors in the life-sim space

This isn’t the first time a game has stood up to Electronic Arts with a competitor toThe Sims, though. An upcoming indie gamecalledParaliveswas revealed three years ago and is still in active development. The one thingLife By Youholds overParalivesis the industry experience Rod Humble has, since, after working onThe Sims, he moved on to work onSecond Life.

No other game as of late has been able to topple the success ofThe Simsfranchise. For over 20 years,The Simshas put out four main titles, dozens of side packs, and brought on millions of fans across the globe. But many fans ofThe Sims, and its latestThe Sims 4, have criticized EA for how much content is put behind a paywall they say should be free for all players. IfLife By Youcan give the same contentThe Simsdoes but under the price of one game, EA could lose some of its fanbase.

If you’re itching to watch the creator behindThe Simsreveal a new competitor he’s heading, tune into theLife By YouYouTube channel on March 20.
