Tracktail Lizard Location
The best place to find the Tracktail Lizard is withinArea 13in theWindward Plains.These lizards that stand up on their tails can be located near the little pool of water in the middle of the desert area. They can scurry away, so make sure you’re moving slowly around the area and get the Capture Net out. You can do that by holding the left shoulder button and then pressing square/X or circle (B) to move the box on the bottom right of the screen.
Where to Find Firestone in Monster Hunter Wilds
Stay chill! The Firestone in Monster Hunter Wilds is in a difficult-to-access area.
Once you have the Capture Net selected (which has a net emblem), press square/X again, and you’ll have it equipped. Aim the Capture Net with the left trigger button (L2) and then net the Tracktail Lizard with the right trigger button (R2).
If you can’t fast travel to the Windward Plains normally, take a side quest from Alma instead. It will transport you to the area. While looking for the Tracktail Lizard, it’s recommended to go during the day.

The game says that the Tracktail Lizard sits upright to “assess their surroundings.” They can also shield themselves from the heat of the sun. As you may notice in the game, the field guide also mentions that these creatures like to travel in pairs to protect each other.
Other Monsters to Find
There are a lot of monsters you can find in the Windward Plains. Once you take out small monsters in the field, they will be added to the field guide. Northeast of Area 8, you’ll find a lot of Dalthydons roaming around. If you carve out their carcass, you’ll gainRaw Meat. Another monster in the area,Ceratonoth, gives Herbivore Shells and Raw Meat. Those shells will help you create certain items.
You’ll also find a bunch of smaller dinosaur-like creatures called Windrustlers. Use the Capture Net to gain them on your field guide.Wingdrake Hidescan be found nearby.Ember Rufflizards, which are needed for a certain side quest, can be found in a different biome.
