Zoria: Age of Shattering Launch Day
Tiny Trinket Gamesis releasing aCRPGthat aims to capture the most fervent fans of the classic role-playing genre. It’s scheduled to release today March 7th, 2024, and the project came to light thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign that allowed them to finance the game’s expenses.
Zoria: Age of Shatteringis aclassic turn-based RPG, arriving at just the right time, thanks to the resurgence of the genre with the massive success ofBaldur’s Gate 3. However, it also carries the weight of living up to the best example of 2023, as many players fond of such genres have had their expectations raised with the likes of BG3 andPathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Fortunately, Zoria doesn’t limit itself to its initial concept and incorporates intriguing mechanics to bring a unique experience.

Fantasy X-COMLike?
On the other hand, setting aside comparisons within the same category niche,Zoria: Age of Shatteringis somewhat different from what one might expect from anarrative-based RPG, as they have decided to maintain a variety of 50 playable characters, limiting the depth of their personalities for a greater good.
Based on what has been tested in the demo available during theSteam Next Fest, this game is somewhat likeX-COMbut with greater narrative depth. Both the scenarios and each playable unit are closely related, and exploration will be a key element in the game.

Characters will be closer to being considered ‘units’ with unique characteristics associated with their abilities, allowing them to navigate through the map.
Exploration & Combat
It is understandable that forZoria: Age of Shattering, exploration and the units we must use will be the main focus. As mentioned earlier, each class will have a specific role, so we will encounter cursed spaces that only a cleric could face, or rocks on the terrain that require the strength of a warrior.
As for the combat mechanics, it promises to be dynamic and enjoyable to avoid falling into the strategic heaviness that games with close inspirations toX-COMmay require.

Exploration depends entirely on the characters available in our team, and with this fusion,Zoria: Age of Shatteringstands out as one of the most appealing propositions of early 2024, especially forRPGenthusiasts who are left wanting more after multiple playthroughs ofBaldur’s Gate 3.Zoria: Age of Shatteringis available for PC onSTEAMand theEpic Games Store.
